MIT 1-min SW PLASMA DATA FROM IMP-8
The ASCII format 1-min MIT plasma data were reformatted at NSSDC, reoganized into annual files and are placed at NSSDC's anonymous FTP site nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov in directory spacecraft_data/imp/imp8/plasma_mit/solarwind_min_old/
These data are nominally all from the solar wind phases of the IMP orbit. Thermal speed is the most probable thermal speed (i.e., the square root of [2kT/m(proton)]). The flow azimuth (E/W) angle is positive for flow from west of the sun. The flow elevation (N/S) angle is positive for flow from south of the sun. The aberration in velocity due to Earth's motion around the Sun has been removed. Flow cartesian components may be directly computed from these angles and the flow speed.
